A Newtonian Love Poem

Matter cannot be created.
In all our bodies what is in us has always been.
Think about that for a moment.
When the universe was birthed,
Bang or whimper,
Every particle that makes up our bodies was already there.
Biding their time.
Waiting to be us.
We are composite creatures.
We are millions of years in the making
Children of stardust and fossils.
In my bones and my blood is the breath of dinosaurs.
My fingertips were once the tails of comets
Back when your eyes held the Milky Way
And we sailed the length of eternity together
We will again.
For
Matter cannot be destroyed.
What is in our bodies is indestructible on a microscopic scale.
It cannot vanish, it cannot ever be erased.
No matter the catastrophe,
We will exist eternally.
We may be changed,
We may be scattered.
But we will always BE.
Time will pass and this body will break down
And the particles time as part of me
Will become just one more chapter in an endless history
But here’s where fact ends and belief begins…
I believe
Every atom of me and every atom of you
Will find one another, and every single one
Will squeeze together in covalent bonds so tight
That even using the most finite laser
The most brilliant scientists in the world couldn’t separate us.
They’ll have to take two of everything
Two carbons
Two nitrogens
Two oxygens
Two hydrogens
One each of what once made me
And what once made you
So close that there is no difference between us
Imagine
Our full chemical composition,
Drifting on air currents
Forming clouds
Falling in the rain and snow
And being caught on the tongues of eager children
Rising through the atmosphere
Circuiting the galaxy
Dancing eternally on the edges of the flames of a supernova
Passing earth once every billion years or so on the head of a comet
And laughing microcosmically
At our former fears of death
For now we know there is no death, only renewal
Our combined atoms will meet and part in the hearts of a billion lovers yet to live
And in infinite time and infinite chances they may form a body that is mostly us but maybe more…
And when the stars fade
And mankind becomes just one more number
In an billion-light-year equation
You and I will still be dancing.
So in the heavens we will have life eternal.
In the eve of atoms
And the care of tiny miracles.
A poem I wrote based somewhat off of my personal philosophy. I'm a little nervous about posting it here. Somehow doubt I'll get any response about it.

Not my best piece since it doesn't do well in slams... but probably my favorite, nonetheless.
